The day doesn’t care how tired you are, it still demands to be lived.

One thing I learned pretty early when I was diagnosed with cancer is that feeling sorry for myself was counter-productive. The world keeps turning and so I realised that I had to do the same.

This got me thinking about ‘the day’. We all get one and it’s up to us how we live it. The day itself will happen regardless and won’t care about us.

  1. The day doesn’t care how heavy your legs feel, it still waits to be climbed.
  2. The day doesn’t care how overwhelmed you feel, it still keeps ticking.
  3. The day doesn’t care how ready you are, it still spins on.
  4. The day doesn’t care how dark your thoughts are, it still rises.
  5. The day doesn’t care if you’re afraid, it still storms in.
  6. The day doesn’t care how slow you move, it still stretches out before you.
  7. The day doesn’t care how bruised you feel, it still needs you to fight.
  8. The day doesn’t care how much you’ve already done, it still calls your name.
  9. The day doesn’t care how little you’ve slept, it still breaks.
  10. The day doesn’t care how many times you’ve failed, it still dares you to try.
  11. The day doesn’t care how lost you feel, it still lays out a path.
  12. The day doesn’t care how nervous you are, it still tests you.
  13. The day doesn’t care how much you doubt yourself, it still demands each step.
  14. The day doesn’t care how many losses you’ve had, it still kicks off.
  15. The day doesn’t care how scared you are, it still dares you to face it.
  16. The day doesn’t care how much you’re hoping for sunshine, it still rains.
  17. The day doesn’t care how much you hurt, it still asks you to finish.
  18. The day doesn’t care how prepared you feel, it still arrives.
  19. The day doesn’t care how much you want to rest, it still needs you to show up.
  20. The day doesn’t care how broken you feel, it still expects you to stand.
  21. The day doesn’t care how heavy your heart is, it still asks you to carry on.
  22. The day doesn’t care how much you’ve endured, it still throws more at you.
  23. The day doesn’t care how scared you are, it still pushes you forward.
  24. The day doesn’t care how many tears you’ve cried, it still marches on.
  25. The day doesn’t care how lost you feel, it still demands direction.
  26. The day doesn’t care how defeated you seem, it still calls you to rise.
  27. The day doesn’t care how many times you’ve fallen, it still offers a chance.
  28. The day doesn’t care how fragile you are, it still hits hard.
  29. The day doesn’t care how quiet your hope feels, it still roars.
  30. The day doesn’t care how alone you feel, it still surrounds you.
  31. The day doesn’t care how unready you are, it still begins anyway.
  32. The day doesn’t care how much you want to quit, it still keeps going.
  33. The day doesn’t care how unfair life seems, it still plays out.
  34. The day doesn’t care how dark it feels, it still demands light.
  35. The day doesn’t care how much pain you’re in, it still insists you move.
  36. The day doesn’t care how empty you feel, it still fills itself with noise.
  37. The day doesn’t care how much you ache, it still pushes forward.
  38. The day doesn’t care how beaten down you are, it still stands tall.
  39. The day doesn’t care how much you’ve already given, it still asks for more.
  40. The day doesn’t care how loud your doubts are, it still believes in your quiet strength.
  41. The day doesn’t care, but I still show up for myself.
  42. The day doesn’t care, but I refuse not to.
  43. The day doesn’t care, but I choose to.
  44. The day doesn’t care, but I carry on anyway.
  45. The day doesn’t care, but I care enough to keep going.
  46. The day doesn’t care, but I’ll always fight for me.
  47. The day doesn’t care, but I care enough to try.
  48. The day doesn’t care, but I care about who I become.
  49. The day doesn’t care, but I’ll never stop showing it I do.
  50. The day doesn’t care, but I care – and that’s what counts.

The day doesn’t care.

But I do.
