The name’s Dabell, John Dabell.

You might not know this but I’m a OO.

You might not know this either….so are you.

Okay, Bond’s 007 designation is actually a number even though we say it as ‘Double O Seven’. The thing is  ‘Double Zero Seven’ doesn’t have the same ring to it.

But let’s just say the Double O refers to 2 letter Os standing for ‘Out and Out’. That makes it more interesting.

We know Bond is an ‘Out and Out’ killer but that’s not all:

  1. He’s an Out and Out loner
  2. He’s an Out and Out charmer
  3. He’s and Out and Out chauvinist
  4. He’s an Out and Out Machiavellian
  5. He’s an Out and Out manipulator
  6. He’s an Out and Out hero
  7. He’s also an Out and Out loose cannon

We can describe Bond in lots of other OO ways and there are probably (definitely!) more than 7 but that wouldn’t make him 007 would it?!

He’s certainly Out of the Ordinary and an Odd One Out so perhaps a Triple-O designation would be better!

The rare double-O prefix is not just for secret agents – it also applies to those of us living with or beyond cancer.

The cancer experience naturally makes you a OO and an ‘Out and Out’ force to be reckoned with. You have Out and Out determination, ‘OO’ Courage and ‘OO’ Resilience.

You are by definition a OO lionheart and a OO warrior. It also makes you a OO legend.

And like Bond and other select British Secret Service agents, your OO gives you a licence to kill.

Now pay attention OO7.

Your mission is to ‘take out’ the cancer so that it is no longer a threat to your individual security.

It’s a perilous mission for sure but, with the skilful support of your ‘Quartermaster’ oncologist (Q), you are equal to the emergency.

The OO mindset gives you the edge. An exploding pen might also help.

And this is where your treatment does its stuff and goes about killing what is not welcome. Q, and Q branch, might deploy chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy or a combination. As a zero-rated agent, you are authorised to use any means necessary to eliminate the enemy.

Your job is to run the gauntlet, take the hits and keep on going until the job is done. You will be shaken and stirred beyond anything you’ve ever experienced.

In the case of immunotherapy, this treatment encourages our immune system to operate as whole fleet of 007s and wipe out any cancer cells that are causing grief and doing sinister things to us.

Immunotherapy enables our own immune cells to hunt down and destroy our evil nemesis Blofeld (cancer cells) so there is ‘No Evidence of Disease’ (NED) and as anyone with cancer knows, NED is a big win!

With immunotherapy your body has a licence to kill.

Packed with electrifying action scenes, hairbreadth escapes and loads of ‘For England’ moments, cancer treatment is a Double-O experience through and through. It’s gritty, brutal and breathless stuff.

You only live once, unless you’re Bond of course and You Only Live Twice.

For cancer patients there really is No Time To Die.

Let’s leave the last words to Q

“Remember, if it hadn’t been for Q Branch, you’d have been dead long ago.”

Without ‘OO’immunotherapy, so would I. It is an ‘Out and Out’ lifesaver!

(P.S. It is forbidden for ‘OO’ agents to retire and declare ‘Over and Out’. They are obliged by His Majesty’s Government to keep on fighting.)
