This is my interpretation of ‘Boxing Day’ and it involves the legendary Muhammad Ali.
Watch these videos and then take a moment to think what a champion is and how we can all be champions if we box clever.
How many champions do we see interacting with children like this?
Look at how good Ali was with them. He inspired them, he let them win and he gave them the motivation to want to be champions in their own lives.
This might not necessarily have been boxing. It could be to be a champion mathematician, a champion artist or a champion engineer. Children have got to believe in themselves until they get to where they want to be. Ali said,
To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are.
Whatever you want to be a champion in then it needs more than skill. It needs training and hard work and above all the will.
